03-07-2024 Speech and Language Coffee morning drop in at the Family Hub

This Speech and Language themed drop-in coffee morning session will be from 10 am - 12.30 pm, on Wednesday July.

We will be joined by:

Judy Sleat - Care Group Manager: School Age Speech and Language Services

Cherry Cornell - Care Group Manager: Early Years Therapies (including Speech and Language)

Cigdem Alkhan - Head of Enfield Communication Advisory Support Service

Judy, Cherry and Cigdem will talk about what their services do and how you can access support, and will answer your questions about speech and language support.

Additionally, Olivia Bray will join us to talk about the DBV Programme:

Enfield Council is working with the Department of Education (DfE) on the Delivering Better Value (DBV) in SEND programme. The DBV programme is aiming to support local authorities and their local area partners to improve the delivery of SEND services for children and young people, whilst working towards financial sustainability.

Olivia Bray is the new SEN Progamme Manager for DBV at Enfield Council and will be joining the coffee morning. She will be providing an update on the DBV programme in Enfield and would like to gather parent/carer voices to understand the strengths, challenges and opportunities in relation to the DBV objectives.

This is one of our regular drop-in sessions which take place at the Ponders End Youth and Family Hub, 129, South Street, Enfield, EN3 4PX.

Members of the Our Voice team will be on hand at this session and once every month to listen to your questions and issues and point you in the right direction to resolve the issues you are facing. Or you can just take the opportunity to offload a bit and have a chat with other parents who experience some of the same challenges as you, over a cup of tea or coffee.

See the flyer for this event here.

See our booklet here for more information, including details of what the hubs are and what support they offer.

Practical information:

The hub is located at 129, South Street, Enfield, EN3 4 PX.

Some people have reported problems with getting to the hub using SatNav. It is best to look out for the Oasis Academy School which is opposite the hub. You may find that once parked you are by the side entrance of the hub – you will probably need to go to the South Street entrance to get admittance to the building – please walk around the building until you get to the front.

These events are aimed at parents and carers rather than children. If you do need to bring children with you, please note that you will be responsible for supervising your children throughout the session – we do not provide childcare or activities for children during these sessions.
