08-05-2026 School's White Paper & SEND Reforms Discussion

This drop-in coffee morning session will be from 10 - 11.30 am on Friday 8th May.  

This is one of our regular series of events and will take place at the Craig Park Family Hub, at 2, Lawrence Road, Edmonton, N18 2HN. 

In this session, Our Voice will be discussing the Government’s Schools White Paper  and SEND reforms which set out proposed reforms to the education system in England, including detailed proposals for reform for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Many families are looking for clear, accessible guidance on how to engage with the consultation process.

The purpose of this coffee afternoon is to support parents and carers of children and young people with SEND to take part in the consultation with confidence and clarity,  and understand the proposals so that you can feel equipped to share your own views and experiences.

We will discuss the key points, reflect on what changes may mean to you, and think about what you feel needs to be raised in response to the consultation proposal.
The documents supporting this reform are many, vary in length, and are not all written in ways that suit parent carers low on capacity for reading and reflecting - we suggest starting with the entry point summary below and then building up to other info where relevant and when you can:

The session will be supported by members of the Our Voice team who will be on hand (as is usual at every session) to listen to your questions and issues. Or you can just take the opportunity to offload a bit and have a chat with other parents who experience some of the same challenges as you, over a cup of tea or coffee.
